Gorgeous Quilt!
You all know how I love negative space! All the green here was left up to my imagination and I had fun dividing and creating! When I had started in the green I was already thinking about the star, of course......which lead me to visualize "non-traditional". If you look you can really see all the change up with the style, however still making it all flow together. Tell me what you think!

This is Wanda's quilt and I love how she decided to use a minky back. It is so soft and plush! When you use a minky fabric for the backing, the quilt is a little heavier. So to keep the wt. down just a little I used a light polyester batting. The quilting shows up super nice with use of the poly batting and the minky backing. The other thing you must be careful of is to not stretch the backing. You want it so there are no wrinkles, but if you pull it, your quilt will come out wonky. Didn't Wanda do a great job with this quilt! She always makes super nice quilts and this one will surely make someone very happy to receive it! This is one of my favorite quilts that I have created. Sketched the templates for the birds and put it together on a whole cloth. The background fabric is what really inspired me to do this, it just seemed perfect to "Put a Bird on it", or several rather.
I then had a lot of fun with creative thinking on my quilting. All of my long arm quilting is done free motion. No templates or panto-graphs used here. Tell me what you think and let us all know what inspires you. On to a wonderful New Year! Happy 2015 |
