This quilt is really Amazing and I'm so happy with how it turned out. The big challenges that I had with this quilt were the helmet and the face. This was a large space to fill in and the helmet needed to still reflect that it is curved. You'll notice that some of the pictures were taken while the quilt was still on rack. This was just to demonstrate the challenge that I was up against. By using curved lines with in the helmet that could represent shadowing kept this from looking too two dimensional and with some help from Rachel and her husband came up with a plan for his face. Rachel really likes contrast so I used the red thread for the facial features, all except for the shadowing done under the cheek bones.
Tell me what you think!
