Quilting Services and Contact Me!
QUILTING
Basic Quilting: $0.033/sq. in. – includes edge to edge designs, similar designs in each block, stitch in the ditch.
Custom Quilting: $0.040/sq. in. – includes ruler work, template work, ¼ inch quilting, and up to 4 border designs
· How do I calculate quilting services? The basic price is the length X width X 0.030 or a minimum charge of $55.00. If you would like to know exactly how much your quilt would cost to have done, just e-mail me a picture of your top along with the measurements of your quilt and we can discuss how you would like it quilted and I can give an exact price.
· Preparing the top and backing:
For best results, a quilt top should have all seams pressed and threads trimmed. The backing needs to be about 8 inches longer and wider than the top. If the backing has seams, press them as well.
· Deciding how to quilt the top:
You as the customer have as much say in the quilting as you want. You tell me how you want it quilted and I will do my best to achieve this.
Questions I ask:
1. How much quilting do you like? (Do you like loose quilting or tight dense quilting)
2. Which areas of the quilt do you want the focus to be?
3. What designs do you not like?
4. What thread color(s) do you want to use?
5. What do you plan to use this quilt for (daily use or barely used)?
THREAD
Solid color thread: No charge for solid colored threads with up to two colors, $1 per color after the first two.
Variegated thread: $3 for the first color used, $1 per each color after.
Types of threads I use
Since I do have a long arm quilting machine, I must use threads designed for a long arm. The threads I carry on hand are Signature thread 100% cotton 40wt., Omni thread 100% polyester 40wt., and So Fine thread polyester 50wt. My preference will always be Omni thread as it is more durable then the cotton threads. If cotton is preferred please specify this.
Batting I carry
I carry quilters dream batting for purchase, 70/30 polly/cotton blend and 100% wool batting. The cotton/poly blend is $8.00 per yard and the 100% wool is $11.00 per yard.
