Here is another great quilt for the viewing!
This is a quilt made with a panel and fabric strips. The colors are vibrant and when quilting this quilt I kept in mind with the birds flying, I wanted it too reflect the motion of the wind blowing and the birds flying.

Wow! This week is all about catch up time!
I love how this quilt came out! Wanda did an excellent job of piecing this. The whole middle strip is all pieced using the all colors used within this quilt. That's a lot of little pieces!

Ugh! Don't you hate it when this happens?????
Working away and what do I notice when I turn the bar? EYELASHES! YIKES! So, needless to say this called for
becoming "Best Friends" with the seam riper. Out came 3/4 of this row. For some reason this bobbin just wound too tight causing the top thread to be pulled too much, hence, the eyelashes.......I will say that after taking all this out and re-doing it, it looks super! Stay tuned for tomorrows post and I will show you this beauty all finished up!

Don't you just love Antique Quilts!
This quilt you see here I actually finished. The original maker had all of the Dresdland plate blocks done, each by hand. Impeccable workmanship, so I hope you all out there feel that I did these blocks justice with sashing and the quilting I did on the beautiful quilt.

Free Motion Quilting
So this is a first for me. I am very new at this, so bear with me on the trials and errors as I set forth on this new venture! I started out with a mid. arm quilter, an older model, but a real work horse. This was a great machine to start out on as there were absolutely no bells or whistles. So, if something went haywire you could pretty much fix it yourself. Not something that you can really do with any of the fancy more modern machines. After about 8 months, I was given the opportunity to upgrade my equipment! I was soooooo excited! So, I sold my mid. arm and purchased a long arm 18 X 8 and a nice new frame! The set up is awesome and I am ever so grateful to have been given the opportunity to upgrade. My long arm does have a stitch regulator and a bobbin winder! This is great as I broke my bobbin winder to my sewing machine trying to wind bobbins for the mid arm........Now that I have 10 months under my belt I have entered 3 quilts into my first quilt show ever, The Coburg Quilt Show. This quilt show will be on Sat. July 28th. When I went there to drop my three off, there were so many beautiful quilts that people have done I'm so green (new) I wonder much my own will pale in comparison........
Here is a sneak peak of some of what I have done.......

Side Line
This quilt is one of my favorites and one that I did on my original mid. arm. I just love birds!
Lots of pebbling and outlining really made this quilt come to life!
This is the back side of the bird quilt. I love using solid backings just so you can really enjoy the detail of the quilting! I used three thread colors on this quilt, Dark brown, grey, and a cream. This accented the top really nice and then gave a really fun element to the back!
